JULY THEME: "Sila Paramita" (precepts, "ethics") What does it mean to act ethically? Why does it matter? How do we hold ourselves and others to a moral standard? We will consider these themes in Study group, in Sunday Dharma talks, in Family Zen, in visits to Concord State Prison. Join the conversation.
VOLUNTEER SERVICE: In return for the generous use of their house for our Retreats, we have been asked by Barbara Fildes and her husband Keith, to donate labor splitting wood for charity. These are pictures from Gendo's November 25, 26 trip to Dai Bosatsu Zendo, a gathering marking Dharma transmission granted by Shinge Roshi, abbott of the Dai Bosatsu, to Kyo-on Dokuro Jaeckel. The event was attended by Shunan Noritake Roshi of Kyoto Japan and abbott of RInzai-ji in Los Angeles, marking a new era of connection between Rinzai-ji and Dai Bosatsu, two branches of Rinzai Zen practice in the United States.
